3 Easy Smoothie Recipes

I love breakfast. Not only is it the most important meal of the day but it is also my FAVOURITE meal of the day! Then 2 years ago I discovered that I was intolerant to eggs. Now, in my life it is not surprising each time I find another food to add to the long list of intolerances. However, eggs were a hard one for me because it was one of the only ‘brekkie’ options I could have.

 

Alas, eggs joined no-no list with its other breakfast friends like: oats, muesli, grains, wheat, dairy, bacon and baked beans.

 

Instead I started eating left over dinners for brekkie. Good but not great.

 

Until I discovered and developed my ultimate smoothie bowls.

 

I resisted smoothies for a long time because:

 

1.     Usually smoothies have too much fruit in them.

2.     I prefer to eat my food and not sip them within 50 seconds

3.     They didn’t keep me satisfied.

 

Today my smoothie bowls make me so happy because I balance out the fruit with veggies, which keeps me satisfied for much longer. Also, I eat them in a bowl with a spoon to combat the 2-second sip situation. Also, I add xantham gum for creamy thickness and cocoa nibs for the crunch and chew part. Sometimes I’ll also add yummy toppings like toasted almond shavings/ pieces of banana / goji berries.

SMOOTHIE #1: Red Velvet

·      1/2 Organic Beetroot (cooked or roasted)

·      2 baby zucchini (raw)

·      1/4 tsp Xantham Gum

·      1/4 tsp Cinnamon

·      1/2 TBSP Raw Cacao

·      1/2 TBSP Lucuma Powder

·      1 tsp Maca Powder

·      1 TBSP Almond Butter

·      1 baby Mulberry

·      Water & Ice

 

SMOOTHIE #2: Chocolate Nana

·      1x baby banana (frozen)

·      3 small courgette (raw)

·      1/4 tsp Xantham Gum

·      1/4 tsp Cinnamon

·      1/2 TBSP Raw Cacao

·      1/2 TBSP Lucuma Powder

·      1 tsp Maca Powder

·      1 TBSP Almond Butter

+ Water & Ice

 

Smoothie #3: Green Mamba

·      1x whole cucumber

·      hand full fresh mint

·      1x cup fresh coriander

·      1/4 avo

·      1/4 tsp Xantham Gum

·      1/4 tsp Cinnamon

·      1/2 TBSP Raw Cacao

·      1/2 TBSP Lucuma Powder

·      1 tsp Maca Powder

·      1 TBSP Almond Butter

+ Water & Ice
